Changing the pouching system varies from person to person. The frequency depends on a multitude of factors, including what type of system you’re using, how active you are and your body’s natural excretion rate. If you experience itching or burning beneath the baseplate you should immediately change the pouching system. This might be indicative of a leak, which can also cause the skin around the stoma to become damaged.
The best time of day to change the pouching system is when there is minimal output. Many people find this is when they first get up, after emptying the pouch but before having anything to drink.
